Biography

George’s career spans six decades. This short bio gives but a glimpse…

GEORGE (“Fingers”) BOYER is an extremely respected pianist and keyboard exponent, whose skills know no bounds. Building on a stringent classical background which he commenced in Hungary at the age of 7 and completed at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 1959, George is now equally comfortable with rock’n’roll, blues, jazz, ballads and country.

George has toured extensively with Terry Gordon, The Trav’lin’ Country Showcase and the legendary Reg Lindsay. He has performed with country artists and club acts far too numerous to mention. He was a support act for The Drifters in their 1998 Sydney appearances. He was also a member of the ‘MO’ Award winning FIFTYS Showgroup and the four time ‘MO’ nominated Country Music Showgroup, The Silver Wings Band. He is currently the musical director of the ‘MO’ nominated “Cash On Delivery” with Bosco Bosanac as Johnny Cash. George is well known in the Rock’n’roll scene, was founding member of The Runaways and The Renegades, has filled in and often sits in with bands such as Tezza and the Twist Tops, Andy and the Cruisers, Matchbox and so on. He is currently a member of Rocatac.

An extremely entertaining artist in his own right, George’s floorshow takes us through a kaleidoscope of music, from the lilting ‘Music Box Dancer’ to a toe tapping medley of Winifred Atwell’s ragtime classics and sings the raunchy rock’n’roll classic ‘Great Balls Of Fire’. He pays tribute to Floyd Cramer, Richard Clayderman as well as Ferranti and Teicher. One of the highlights of his show is when he plays the piano back-to-front – to see, click the clip below.

It is a show that brings a refreshing change to the variety scene, and is one that is NOT TO BE MISSED!
